Quilter's Gift Wish List

Many of you already have a sizeable stash so I ask this question with the intent of not getting a fabric answer. What is on your wish list gift wise? Is your wish different if it is coming from a quilty friend? That is even though you know how and are able to make quilts, etc for yourself, would you still like to get quilty items from quilty friends?

This is a hard question even for me. I don't know what my gift wish list is. I have so many of the items that I desire(d) that I think my favorite gift is spending time with my family and friends and using some of that quilty stockpile with my quilty friends. A sewing date to be specific.

What are your thoughts? Your gifty desires?

In 2009 I want..

1. To go on a quilting retreat.
2. To go to the Houston show.
3. A fairy to organize my stash.
4. Applique lessons.
5. More often sewing dates with my buddies :)

hmmm if I were to have a wish list for my quilty friends, I'd have to say a quiet weekend of quilting together would rank right up there... Or a bundle of scraps from their collection to paw through.. :-) An idea book for me to make something quilty from... or a "kit" they've personally made up for me...

Now this is a great question. My ultimate wish list would be to be able to take a trip to Australia to visit Australian designers: Leanne Beasley, Janet Rowe, Cinderberry Stitches. Barring that, I would love to get a collection of their patterns and all the colors of Presencia floss.

A serger is at the top of my wishlist. I have made a boatload of pillowcases this year and a serger would make them oh-so-easy.

a retreat. I haven't been on one in so long. Or a trip to Lancaster to buy lots and lots of fabric at Sauders :)

I told hubby to put one of those lights that you put on your machine at the top of my list. I am not sure he remembers - guess I will find out Christmas morning. But you know, I would just love to have a stressfree, family filled fun Christmas!

I'm the only quilter anywhere in my family, and I did not feel at all welcome in the lodal guild so asking for quilty gifts is very chancy at best. The family tries but unless i give VERY specific lists(i.e. 60mm olfa rotary cutting blades) I end up with some very wierd stuff. As far as true wish lists? I want a Longarm but i know better. Thats at least 7 years down th line when dh leaves the AF.

PS. I recived my stocking from iowa and i know that muffy got the one i sent her.

to babs above: i don't know who you're calling a fairy, but i'd be happy to help organize your stash. that kind of thing is a present to me when i get to do it!

good company at the holidays is always the best gift to me, so i'd go with visiting with friends.

More time! Although from my quilty friends, time to sew together would be nice.

For several years now I have been buying my own 'gifts' and inviting others to pay for them if they don't want to come up with something themselves. usually i give them to my husband, who organises whether he wraps, or others wrap. Not everyone likes this system, but the alternative was putting half my gifts into the charity box after christmas (no more baskets of smelly bath liquids, please!) Sure, I am not getting any surprises, but I am getting guilt free treats. This year I have bought myself a knitting DVD and a kit for a dollshouse kitchen, but I have asked for a new mid-size cutting mat because my old one is so brittle, and some books and gloves. I am very much a 'cake now' person so i tend to buy things through the year anyway, and not wait patiently like a martyr hoping someone with ESP will give me what I want for christmas.

I agree time spent quilting with family (or friends) is high on my wish list but won't happen this month.

I prefer not to receive presents for Christmas since I don't give any - I always ask that donations be made instead but Mom insists on presents so this year I asked her for 3.5 inch strips cut from her stash for a scrap quilt I want to make. She's cut for me in the past in exchange for my quilting for her and it's been nice to just start sewing.
