I came to say I haven’t been sewing much. But when I scrolled photos I discovered I was a fibber. In addition to cleaning up bags of scraps by making bindings I’ve had three new starts! Plus, I’ve made in excess of 15 bings. I need to get busy quilting apparently.<div><br /></div><div>I was sorting through kits and saw this one. Got bit by a bug and decided to make it. I still have to miter the borders. I wanted to add another yellow and miscue a green so went to my newly organized stash and found exactly what I needed!</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj61yMpEj62vHL42OhGlYjR79k8L8HUQMQlCpR8WrQUBccHROWT-Ob0v9HCqaduqKeMVhrDgy0TC_fb-D7Y6KiC_Uzi_q_VOvXk5_BRrF-JZBEs659cuL8A0wrA7o5Egh5vo5NtCzO5fIsWiR1bL-ubpOIWHrmYJnugLQkN3Od6p90FbDLXRhip/s4032/17D4E135-2202-46AF-BE22-E7A975B41154.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj61yMpEj62vHL42OhGlYjR79k8L8HUQMQlCpR8WrQUBccHROWT-Ob0v9HCqaduqKeMVhrDgy0TC_fb-D7Y6KiC_Uzi_q_VOvXk5_BRrF-JZBEs659cuL8A0wrA7o5Egh5vo5NtCzO5fIsWiR1bL-ubpOIWHrmYJnugLQkN3Od6p90FbDLXRhip/s320/17D4E135-2202-46AF-BE22-E7A975B41154.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><div><br /><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>While sorting fabric I came across panels and coordinating yardage that I was not interested in using. He was so busy making shoes for his customers he didn’t have time to make shoes for his family.<div><br /></div><div>I found myself tightly ensconced in the role of a cobbler’s child. I have time to repair quilts for others but not repair my own. The very first quilt I made was given to my mother. When it started to wear she put it away. I inherited that quilt back when she passed away. I always had intentions of fixing it but never seemed to get around to the task.</div><div><br /></div><div>This past weekend I bundled it up and took it to the church. I picked out all the quilting and hung it up to find the spots needing repair. When you look at the picture you can see blue painters tape in two spots. There are 5 spots in all. Three need the seam resewn and the other two need a strip replaced.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNJoMcq4PY8bYU-AqJy_FXw-WSXUILSSJ-v9YhM4dfJRBFV6pw_w5BfoKlm8HTK5LXZBpmvT6DRCBUWkkYd8f8gPhRiWrUWUvZZQDwwFRo0BWnwl7kyo2Su4QwsbeJjv4Ekd2Hf6G_NA0m6opM2b2GsEBRIT_QlvRd3AJmAeGGc7zGBw3TfyIZ/s4032/BB3C0025-6890-4ADC-B8CB-6FE4EB037430.jpeg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNJoMcq4PY8bYU-AqJy_FXw-WSXUILSSJ-v9YhM4dfJRBFV6pw_w5BfoKlm8HTK5LXZBpmvT6DRCBUWkkYd8f8gPhRiWrUWUvZZQDwwFRo0BWnwl7kyo2Su4QwsbeJjv4Ekd2Hf6G_NA0m6opM2b2GsEBRIT_QlvRd3AJmAeGGc7zGBw3TfyIZ/s320/BB3C0025-6890-4ADC-B8CB-6FE4EB037430.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Now that I have it to this point it will be a lot easier to work on it. I made all the rookie mistakes. Sewed with a 5/8” seam, not enough quilting for the batting. Maybe not all but I hope I’ve improved. In the process of my ongoing stash organization I came across the matching fabric! Serendipity.</div><div><br /></div><div>What are you putting off doing for yourself that you readily do for others? Time to make yourself a priority!</div><div><br /></div><div>Happy quilting.</div><div><br /></div><div>Swooze</div>swoozehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16072848652991759330noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26689010.post-40491583758031553762023-07-04T21:34:00.002-06:002023-07-04T21:34:58.723-06:00Folding FrenzyI’m still at it. I’ve been folding in color categories until now but have slipped into categories. This will make it easier for me to find what I want. I have decided what my space limitations are and when those areas are full I’m going to become very generous with my friends. It’s been easy to run across pieces and say “I don’t want to work with this anymore.” Out they went! There are a few groupings that I’ve decided once I make a quilt or three then out it goes. That will take longer than just giving it away but I may do some kitting to get the bulk of it out.<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhd-g4Aa_dZzDqwTuCLRRBCd21JuN9lsAoluG1-VgIAkW8RF_C1vUZT8yvkpIyZNzOUieMRxAoerJYKrZGVjdV7yXXE0hzmL1NMamZF3n0MWmiqla7bPQLjtLzEyUzSx6A38FTcos4AXDNJptv0K06UF9pehj9roL1YAy1ArrZkd96hLGpv5Qmy/s4032/8746CCF0-C695-453A-9A7C-E8B3C67689AF.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhd-g4Aa_dZzDqwTuCLRRBCd21JuN9lsAoluG1-VgIAkW8RF_C1vUZT8yvkpIyZNzOUieMRxAoerJYKrZGVjdV7yXXE0hzmL1NMamZF3n0MWmiqla7bPQLjtLzEyUzSx6A38FTcos4AXDNJptv0K06UF9pehj9roL1YAy1ArrZkd96hLGpv5Qmy/s320/8746CCF0-C695-453A-9A7C-E8B3C67689AF.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>Above I have batiks, Christmas, winter, fall and orientals. Getting things finished to the top stage. I even have a few cut kits that were someone else’s UFO, a new start and some organizing!<div><br /></div><div>This is called Now and Later. Purchased kit from an estate sale. It’s a freebie that was tucked in with a magazine subscription. There were enough pieces to make one big quilt. I opted to make two. The smaller one ghastly a whir border. The larger No border but if a recipient is identified and I need it larger I can easily add that. This one was more color planned where the other was random. I did try to break up color and/or print. What’s your preference?<br /><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkCck-CU-qkIinJqrJbKj09ab8K3xYnjMNH0sXon9jUdqr8genB2WRBLCfvZ2C_KApvGDHhmCyoapMHVsHLx1z5wLcMN6JctJpkqUlfxVxO9xMTvj4d_vmuw9WRzteDoBAyefkKYz4b8PFfmhNkHU20Ex6tA1fYiQ4V92-4-DGFKvevEI_Vw/s3832/0D988ABB-9567-4A8A-8968-3539131BA909.jpeg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3832" data-original-width="2583" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkCck-CU-qkIinJqrJbKj09ab8K3xYnjMNH0sXon9jUdqr8genB2WRBLCfvZ2C_KApvGDHhmCyoapMHVsHLx1z5wLcMN6JctJpkqUlfxVxO9xMTvj4d_vmuw9WRzteDoBAyefkKYz4b8PFfmhNkHU20Ex6tA1fYiQ4V92-4-DGFKvevEI_Vw/s320/0D988ABB-9567-4A8A-8968-3539131BA909.jpeg" width="216" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_1cTzGv7s-chWcc3Vzl4I8zqvUbHgYaoZAvO3sagRD1ZWITM1g4H8qAySb04E8T7ksYidcvIqBUMUvHQfUJ4NwW0WuAC4kxk8LOlkNLZq7F6MeIMx2TedlX7E-zWyaHZ3rK6yC5EXKFD_cq8CaLgubq6CLU6V9ycNCejgaGu_oSvPB2Crpw/s3497/1583086C-4F2C-423E-83B0-4A94E5B58B4B.jpeg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3497" data-original-width="2802" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_1cTzGv7s-chWcc3Vzl4I8zqvUbHgYaoZAvO3sagRD1ZWITM1g4H8qAySb04E8T7ksYidcvIqBUMUvHQfUJ4NwW0WuAC4kxk8LOlkNLZq7F6MeIMx2TedlX7E-zWyaHZ3rK6yC5EXKFD_cq8CaLgubq6CLU6V9ycNCejgaGu_oSvPB2Crpw/s320/1583086C-4F2C-423E-83B0-4A94E5B58B4B.jpeg" width="256" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">While going through things I ran across these blocks that I had made from some kits I had won for being a quilt angel at the Dallas Quilt Show. Sewing obviously. In addition I have been decluttering. I’m a little over halfway through getting rid of 2023 things. I’ve shifted focus to changing my quilt house into a quilt studio and stash repository. My first focus was going through the room I sew in and moving out piles of fabric that are not on my current target lists. I got the majority out but it quickly became obvious I needed to work on my repository. I’ve gotten rid of a few things. I tell people I am bailing the Titanic with a teaspoon. The amount I’m getting rid of is not making the difference.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I did have a friend come over and we folded part of one shelf.it let me see how things would look. Last week I started grabbing fabric and ruler folding. I had it stacked on my bed and my recliner in my room. I grabbed the stacks from the shelf that was previously folded and sorted that into my color plan. When I got just a little past this point I changed my approach. Starting yesterday I went through my other racks, bins and piles and started pulling out reds, pinks, oranges, yellows greens and blues. I’m going to concentrate on folding the first four and keep checking for more. I’m contemplating leaving one empty stack/spot for wiggle room on each of my two racks.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqudHgcwNMKRqpZY4JrvJTEgtfLS08wDeT6JKhmSSdNEEp_YVf_noZhzMm2XOHxTuz3z6HF7zDwooeZSCc8HZyK0IaQ1ba9su91h87UgRywGxCnMR4AefM0KPtTojp5slTZ2cNSSNwvK1mTJak0AGVktgiIBt-uITKzFBpdPZoDejakBtcuQ/s4032/5768A4EF-2023-4467-8599-CD8FF5671EF7.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqudHgcwNMKRqpZY4JrvJTEgtfLS08wDeT6JKhmSSdNEEp_YVf_noZhzMm2XOHxTuz3z6HF7zDwooeZSCc8HZyK0IaQ1ba9su91h87UgRywGxCnMR4AefM0KPtTojp5slTZ2cNSSNwvK1mTJak0AGVktgiIBt-uITKzFBpdPZoDejakBtcuQ/s320/5768A4EF-2023-4467-8599-CD8FF5671EF7.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div><br /><div>I would love to hear any organizing tips you may have for me. I’ve been sewing but also decluttering. The bug has really hit me to get rid of stuff. I joined a challenge to get rid of 2023 things in 2023. You would not think checking off a box on a piece of paper would be so motivating but it has really captured my attention. <div><br /></div><div>I’ve been trying to keep a balance in everything by not being all or nothing. I had to pull out the timer to keep me moving along. I’m going through papers from my parents house that are of the memories variety. I’ve made some decent headway but also find I have to stop after a time so that I don’t get overwhelmed.</div><div><br /></div><div>At the beginning of the year I made 4 lists of the quilting variety. Two are lists of flimsies that need quilting. I have not made good progress here. I have quilted one and started loading the next. I need to find motivation in this area. I made two other lists. One is new things I’d like to start. One started there and brought to flimsy. The list I’ve really made progress on are the list of UFOs that are in pieces. So far I’ve gotten 7 to the flimsy stage. Here is some eye candy.</div><div><br /></div><div>You saw <a href="https://swooze.blogspot.com/2023/01/happy-new-year-2023.html" target="_blank">Linda’s Irish Chain</a> in black, red and white. </div><div><br /></div><div>Pfeffernusse. I’m awaiting pictures with their recipients.<div><br /></div><div>I started quilting on my quilt. I have a plan and sort of quilted myself into a corner of sorts. I started with rulers and they’re a little too restrictive for the space. I’ll do the rest free hand but am having a bit of a pouting session first.</div><div><br /></div><div>In the meantime I’ve been piecing. First I made Pokémon pillowcases for my son. They were a cute print I found at Hobby Lobby.</div><div><br /></div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAfY_pPe2qBMR1w2ncDDilWdXsSTHg7YgYzzJVVgvASx4RIpbozhitgZXQLxnRv9DBhT-gih5IVtS18uxE-u4x22Pc14DNr2GXlbVEgaSwDvFBENeVLyv2avbvS6R7QNZDEWwJzTRyZ_MTPUpewWox0F7b9dK_gu56H6WhZS2Mk7OZaZCnWA/s4032/8BCFAA16-6CDC-47F9-AB63-D633382387D8.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAfY_pPe2qBMR1w2ncDDilWdXsSTHg7YgYzzJVVgvASx4RIpbozhitgZXQLxnRv9DBhT-gih5IVtS18uxE-u4x22Pc14DNr2GXlbVEgaSwDvFBENeVLyv2avbvS6R7QNZDEWwJzTRyZ_MTPUpewWox0F7b9dK_gu56H6WhZS2Mk7OZaZCnWA/s320/8BCFAA16-6CDC-47F9-AB63-D633382387D8.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Then I made a kitchen set for my daughter consisting of four owl cozies and three hot pads custom sized to her pans. They are made of a cute gnome fabric also found at Hobby Lobby. I added decorative stitches to the smallest hot pad. On the last side it got hung up and it kept stitching on itself. That was a mess to pick out. I just removed the bad and redid that spot. The others got simple straight stitching!</div><div><br /></div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj77y0D_UvAD7BKmWBbmSk4Atk_qbxp4wZKt9iWHMiu3GbwAWyZVAnf1xuuUNc7eY2MNg4cikAs9BqNeQwFoY2r2atlAw7g-W3vPewd7lluqL3-tpqied1KCaeEU9a1Bn9YIIOXrLBW1hE3snnhmAFt6rTcFFvGqnSgsW67PiIRQMCH2WVCAQ/s4032/AE3A4623-1272-452B-8120-6E0D224BE0E9.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj77y0D_UvAD7BKmWBbmSk4Atk_qbxp4wZKt9iWHMiu3GbwAWyZVAnf1xuuUNc7eY2MNg4cikAs9BqNeQwFoY2r2atlAw7g-W3vPewd7lluqL3-tpqied1KCaeEU9a1Bn9YIIOXrLBW1hE3snnhmAFt6rTcFFvGqnSgsW67PiIRQMCH2WVCAQ/s320/AE3A4623-1272-452B-8120-6E0D224BE0E9.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOgKMjAZxw1e23ACXzCgV79eOWWFnBsscS3k4wLgLyBDdk3FtrKk2Eq2lmqSBWSU8zRxnDyBgUZZu3CoJrdn3gNqINfCFFmRTS67wMMhYax2CRyf1WUKaMTssJyUJzCj-3BqObX5tUKBUX4m_nzz2O5EaelQvIs09OgVo6TShv-P59EJuTkw/s2781/85001EC1-0463-4854-B7C8-5AD7EFA2C9D3.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2781" data-original-width="2716" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOgKMjAZxw1e23ACXzCgV79eOWWFnBsscS3k4wLgLyBDdk3FtrKk2Eq2lmqSBWSU8zRxnDyBgUZZu3CoJrdn3gNqINfCFFmRTS67wMMhYax2CRyf1WUKaMTssJyUJzCj-3BqObX5tUKBUX4m_nzz2O5EaelQvIs09OgVo6TShv-P59EJuTkw/s320/85001EC1-0463-4854-B7C8-5AD7EFA2C9D3.jpeg" width="313" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Right before the New Year a friend of mine gave me 24 blocks from a swap we had participated in. Each person chose their own fabrics and pattern. Each person was to make two blocks then pass the box to the next person until the box was returned tothe owner. The book of patterns they chose had terrible instructions. Peoples sewing abilities were sub par. The boxes did not get passed correctly. I never got my friends box and didn’t make any of the 24 blocks. When she got her blocks back they ranged in size from 11.75” to 14”. She was so disappointed. I took the wrong ones apart for her and did some fixes. She just couldn’t get past the fiasco and gifted the blocks and leftover fabric to me. I told her I would finish the quilt and she resisted my offer. A few weeks ago I went to work and fixed one last block. Then I made 11 more. This was after a back and forth trying to determine the size she wanted with her still resisting. I took the completed center, shown below, to her to audition on her bed and audition borders. Saturday the decision was made and I got the first border on. Will get the second one on this week.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivkL-1FXHaQUWRImSt0aSRNqg46p8OR43I2QtujF9uwEfVqpXvMMjWiJA-H0MxPQ8DiRROgx88i2QNPKraaWhVURAOGprYFgl27l3sRbkkTmlwwd73KGe02H9G88HGf2D51o1EynMgM9YKa8HRRIl42aXuJBoXpvW3FyeDQ-zZuTLK_RI6gQ/s3409/7F1FD6AC-ED38-4494-86AE-8CCC27ED4383.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3409" data-original-width="2615" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivkL-1FXHaQUWRImSt0aSRNqg46p8OR43I2QtujF9uwEfVqpXvMMjWiJA-H0MxPQ8DiRROgx88i2QNPKraaWhVURAOGprYFgl27l3sRbkkTmlwwd73KGe02H9G88HGf2D51o1EynMgM9YKa8HRRIl42aXuJBoXpvW3FyeDQ-zZuTLK_RI6gQ/s320/7F1FD6AC-ED38-4494-86AE-8CCC27ED4383.jpeg" width="245" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">While working on the above and waiting for decisions I pulled out my scrappy red plaid double Ninepatch and continued piecing. It’s in the hands of UPS now. They said Saturday delivery so we shall see. I’ve really gotten to know my machine in quilting nine quilts in a row. Now that I warmed up I decided to join a UFO challenge on the stashbuster io group.<div><br /></div><div>The entry fee to join is $1 and 2 FQs. If you’re selected queen based on a rolling list then you have one week to complete a quilt or pay a FQ penalty. You also have to complete one UFO per quarter. I think most people can not be crowned by simply finishing oneUFO each quarter. The number of participants also determines how often your name will bubble up to the top.</div><div><br /></div><div>Another unofficial challenge they do is the random UFO challenge. You list your UFOs at the beginning of the year. At the first of each month they draw a low number and a high number. The low number is 1-12 and the high number is 13-? Where the highest number was the number of UFOs the leader of the challenge has. Last year it was 80. She had a lot of finishes so will be interesting to see what high number she uses.</div><div><br /></div><div>For lists of UFOs I made three lists of 12. This way there will be 3 items randomly drawn to inspire me to finish that month. One list is of tops that I have a recipient in mind for, the second list is of tops that I wanted to complete but it turned out I had 20 tops with someone in mind. These two categories just need quilting and binding. The third list is of piecing UFOs. I was able to quickly list 9 and that was without really looking. There is a cutting party going on to hurry and make more UFOs so they can be counted in 2023. I’m going to cut to grow my list.</div><div><br /></div><div>So I’m warmed up and ready to go. I started loading one of my UFOs with an intended recipient. The top needs a good pressing and I have to cut the batt. I’ve chosen my thread. I sketched my quilting plan and need to load a bobbin. My goal is for a 1/6 completion because I will be seeing the recipient then.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6MdoGk0UAE9f7lqQReNFUYeEI11hUCKgLYS80ZRQzRhMypU2B4dyGP9IKHDGh7jSLlY7TBdstIvZXKrQucgpmsQEIg-1txQ2iIzRSRFA2cMOVrZumkJHrHxaKnajAyCZo3ixE4-H5WNP7Rer5xva3JK-nq4G7CmVHC3_NVpqzK4xyxmoEiA/s2048/360DFA68-D27E-4846-9321-D1FAA3FE23CC.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1535" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6MdoGk0UAE9f7lqQReNFUYeEI11hUCKgLYS80ZRQzRhMypU2B4dyGP9IKHDGh7jSLlY7TBdstIvZXKrQucgpmsQEIg-1txQ2iIzRSRFA2cMOVrZumkJHrHxaKnajAyCZo3ixE4-H5WNP7Rer5xva3JK-nq4G7CmVHC3_NVpqzK4xyxmoEiA/s320/360DFA68-D27E-4846-9321-D1FAA3FE23CC.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivxMpCscH5UHRU3Zebt-AFU6yFszEFc-0QVghVxw8FM8d6Zqnb9776javKFZT8C0bZMmWaenxyEqbNfZh5t2FCSD0NDh4lGnnE58NOv1o92Ef0YSslSyFGHxHF3PoFRRMzuf_2i7_VpuLTTafhzL3jrG40TthiCZOKOokAYRvWjxzMHWngXg/s4032/510F3155-B077-423B-B810-9646E85E874D.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivxMpCscH5UHRU3Zebt-AFU6yFszEFc-0QVghVxw8FM8d6Zqnb9776javKFZT8C0bZMmWaenxyEqbNfZh5t2FCSD0NDh4lGnnE58NOv1o92Ef0YSslSyFGHxHF3PoFRRMzuf_2i7_VpuLTTafhzL3jrG40TthiCZOKOokAYRvWjxzMHWngXg/s320/510F3155-B077-423B-B810-9646E85E874D.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div><br /><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div> I’ll be using that lime green! I opted to loosen just the top by two full turns and then started stitching. It was surprisingly close and I was able to stitch quite a bit without a single break. I consulted with a friend and she suggested an eighth of a turn tighter on the bottom but it ultimately needed a full quarter turn. Stitches look great and I’m gonna try again, fingers crossed. The fourth quilt is in progress of being loaded.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><a href="http://www.mylivesignature.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://signatures.mylivesignature.com/54486/352/207F2BD16E2136F92DE8627CDB06BDB6.png" style="background: transparent; border: none;" /></a></div></div>swoozehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16072848652991759330noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26689010.post-60562120754648871082022-12-08T22:44:00.001-06:002022-12-08T22:44:29.361-06:00Quilting Progress #2I finished this one today. Happy Halloween 2022!I finished my goal.<div><br /></div><div>Repaired the top. Quilted it and bound it. I have learned the best way (easiest) to fix these things is to take it apart. I again used some vintage fabric to make the replacement patches and sewed it back together. When it was given to me to repair there were just two long lines of quilting going top to bottom long ways. The patches were free to shift and shift until they either wore away or parts just fell apart. I quilted every single seam. That patchwork isn’t going anywhere! No batting and a thick ticking like back. I just reused that as it was in great shape.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaho5ZR77l9ObHlPhyqoMqo33sKPfjhgu9OXaS7g-2mkeChqHebuzNvqOgEKLcz8iW0yy0IoA0vaACJ9sGXMoDF43jjAEJw5uhqX5KSEf-LVnGnJb0nuQ1j9sX6IzcgIyyeXsADEK1h0MMkI-s4UOueQQYkYok-yNNA3SzzWIqS8uaeJ8GvA/s4032/2068921F-FF82-434F-BE21-755A382A9C3B.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaho5ZR77l9ObHlPhyqoMqo33sKPfjhgu9OXaS7g-2mkeChqHebuzNvqOgEKLcz8iW0yy0IoA0vaACJ9sGXMoDF43jjAEJw5uhqX5KSEf-LVnGnJb0nuQ1j9sX6IzcgIyyeXsADEK1h0MMkI-s4UOueQQYkYok-yNNA3SzzWIqS8uaeJ8GvA/s320/2068921F-FF82-434F-BE21-755A382A9C3B.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPTAWHh095WTUyoZETjdrZe7R5x69r_nJJQlRuYXhMIXeT5hk6McAaxlq99SHbSF0jGOYmAYdwMjOKZFwMpiia1YPAAwg4JZWDCw8U1dO0rs9i9sOCqkBfAIbUAjrzp3lQQGx1v0XniM0lt_JIlY40FFMeG7go5K7Eb1tnqhgPwRZFR7lAmg/s4032/CDF75B3C-6BCE-4826-9B85-3F694E2EDF13.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPTAWHh095WTUyoZETjdrZe7R5x69r_nJJQlRuYXhMIXeT5hk6McAaxlq99SHbSF0jGOYmAYdwMjOKZFwMpiia1YPAAwg4JZWDCw8U1dO0rs9i9sOCqkBfAIbUAjrzp3lQQGx1v0XniM0lt_JIlY40FFMeG7go5K7Eb1tnqhgPwRZFR7lAmg/s320/CDF75B3C-6BCE-4826-9B85-3F694E2EDF13.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div>When I returned it to my client it was a strange experience. We are friends and he met me at a mutual friends house. He stepped outside and greeted me and I handed him the quilt. I expected him to open it up and admire it or take it inside to show the others but instead he said thank you and took out to his car. I said I hope you like it and he responded I’m sure I will. We went inside and there was really no further discussion of it with our other friends so I wondered if he would be happy. I’m not sure what happened but the topic of the quilt came up again. He mentioned that his was probably the only one still in existence. I think that was his way of demonstrating his happiness. I had asked for a small amount given we are friends. He ended up giving mr more than I asked. Maybe that was my another sign of his pleasure.<div><br /></div><div>A few weeks ago I went to a retreat. I wore a t-shirt I bought at Walmart. This month I’m going to put the binding on this quilt that I repaired earlier this year. I’ve already made the binding I just have to attach it now and will probably machine sew it down.<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMnRmS8R9rq9e_dA_Can0lfo9yU27Luj1rcVtutz8h1fMyF2LsjjbNWCc_jl2SJFkkTSuE3U38z1mbFMbO4SVHrKsZ-WaxTa_f9LU2S6_k4pis2fqTTDNik2T6kuLL2uySIqlCDa57Sc1WEStgNwrNiqzy8bWeeXlz63R3Qm3DREa4iZzblA/s3923/5A23373E-C318-44F9-A339-F3C063572DED.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3923" data-original-width="1851" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMnRmS8R9rq9e_dA_Can0lfo9yU27Luj1rcVtutz8h1fMyF2LsjjbNWCc_jl2SJFkkTSuE3U38z1mbFMbO4SVHrKsZ-WaxTa_f9LU2S6_k4pis2fqTTDNik2T6kuLL2uySIqlCDa57Sc1WEStgNwrNiqzy8bWeeXlz63R3Qm3DREa4iZzblA/s320/5A23373E-C318-44F9-A339-F3C063572DED.jpeg" width="151" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><br /><div>Are you playing along?</div><div><br /></div><div>Linking up with Patty at Elm Street Quilts for One Monthly Goal <a href="https://www.elmstreetquilts.com/2022/10/OMGOct22.html" target="_blank">linkup</a>.</div><div><br /></div><div><a href="http://www.mylivesignature.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://signatures.mylivesignature.com/54486/352/207F2BD16E2136F92DE8627CDB06BDB6.png" style="background: transparent; border: none;" /></a></div>swoozehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16072848652991759330noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26689010.post-29635724376379162842022-09-23T17:36:00.005-06:002022-09-23T17:41:13.004-06:00More Churndash About the time I finished up the last two churndashes I decided to use up the red and white fabric that I had to make another quilt. My friend is in the process of making the Oh My Gosh quilt and I thought I would like to make a shoofly block. Normally I don’t follow along with sew alongs because I have a list of things I’d like to finish myself. But I got the idea to make a chain quilt because that’s what stashbusters had done last year. Part of this decision was because Pat from stashbusters commented that she tries to use up fabric and not put it away in her stash and I thought that was a great idea.<div><br /></div><div>I made the chain blocks and shoofly blocks and laid them out. I was not really thrilled with how they looked. I think that is because the scale of my chain blocks were too large for the rest of the quilt. To me it just looked like a lump of busyness all slapped together.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaMyTnAFF6mEM_t03xOdc0QLIEFaoGPiZnUT_Ogr2E-Cr1NYKUoSFI7mtp6yuYb-T2mFJdC6byfslc5Rp1sPUC5sAvbr2_5yPNWQ6gCRpMEhiARGY_5xArRKV0zbY40O72pdcRDfsOeRldPMPEVw03XWvzSg59aypFp62wpwAGSWcwV1NAlA/s4032/36F34F24-632E-47AF-923E-4A371950D96A.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaMyTnAFF6mEM_t03xOdc0QLIEFaoGPiZnUT_Ogr2E-Cr1NYKUoSFI7mtp6yuYb-T2mFJdC6byfslc5Rp1sPUC5sAvbr2_5yPNWQ6gCRpMEhiARGY_5xArRKV0zbY40O72pdcRDfsOeRldPMPEVw03XWvzSg59aypFp62wpwAGSWcwV1NAlA/s320/36F34F24-632E-47AF-923E-4A371950D96A.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><div>My solution was to add blue solid blocks between the other blacks to break up the busyness. I will have to try another chain layout sometime in the future and pay attention to the scale of the chain.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4cVBoGIfX-Nqkw1T69ctVsrjR39zHxJSF2fOkCyis0p5ysrYE2BMSufs4IzHu4bDr7aF1MsplbDHUuSajZmo30GgWc8IPiZ7zDc9JSxY3JpTG4M25-hzquF0hcq1ztEaPp08sUN0uIZ71TmDpzaOlx02ou56zzMlBP5E4pO4d5OrNqhv5RQ/s3278/29E58F1B-CCF5-42F3-87D8-7F95237B5C39.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3278" data-original-width="2429" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4cVBoGIfX-Nqkw1T69ctVsrjR39zHxJSF2fOkCyis0p5ysrYE2BMSufs4IzHu4bDr7aF1MsplbDHUuSajZmo30GgWc8IPiZ7zDc9JSxY3JpTG4M25-hzquF0hcq1ztEaPp08sUN0uIZ71TmDpzaOlx02ou56zzMlBP5E4pO4d5OrNqhv5RQ/s320/29E58F1B-CCF5-42F3-87D8-7F95237B5C39.jpeg" width="237" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div><div>After making this quilt I was tired of working with the red and white fabric and put it away. I declared that I was cured of saying the phrase “I’ll take the rest of the bolt”. I will assure you I am not cured as I have had several end of bolt purchases since stating that. I did move onto a new category of fabrics to try and bust and I will post about that next.</div><div><br /></div><div>During many of these discussions other topics came up such as minimalism and organization. Someone mentioned the YouTube videos made by a group called The Minimalists. I watched one of them and they gave you 10 suggestions of things to work on and the one that really caught my attention was putting away your toys. It’s suggested that you put your toys away every night before going to bed. I thought what a great way to describe all of my quilt goodness that was all over my house.</div><div><br /></div><div>I haven’t really started to put things away but I have continue to work on organizing my home. I came up with a plan for getting all the fabric refolded and put away in neater fashion. I now have a table that I can use for the folding but I’m getting ready to go on vacation so I will not start on that process just yet. I have three volunteers it will be coming over to help me with a folding and putting away. I hope while we’re doing that I’ll be able to divest myself of some things.</div><div><br /></div><div>More to come!<br /><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><a href="http://www.mylivesignature.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://signatures.mylivesignature.com/54486/352/207F2BD16E2136F92DE8627CDB06BDB6.png" style="background-color: transparent; background: transparent; border: none;" /></a></div></div></div>swoozehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16072848652991759330noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26689010.post-88460742768389814062022-08-26T22:15:00.002-06:002022-08-26T22:15:24.781-06:00Churn Dash Frenzy<div>On my Stashbuster group there was a Marianne Memorial Sew Along. Normally I don’t participate in sew alongs because I have plenty of things that I want to accomplish and I find that it just slows me down on those things. But not too long after they started their sew along Chookyblue started one as well for her blog readers. So I decided to jump in.</div><div><br /></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgixGVaBhr-EWV6C-SpRziujH7ZYS3VeCxH-2sfW4UThZj_aB9oQJo85f8aAw2i0l9IEAcFof1LyKKLOsqZWqK3z5JA6kDYK2e4Jh9BaqJLHiONL00FCY63xyaxSd7DWp8NnM5MbJiFr5-Una2-bLkImcBjmiYtQ0hO8anYqd7zAHEiMFKudQ/s4032/B58C1BCA-08D9-4703-895E-743C3BF45D8B.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgixGVaBhr-EWV6C-SpRziujH7ZYS3VeCxH-2sfW4UThZj_aB9oQJo85f8aAw2i0l9IEAcFof1LyKKLOsqZWqK3z5JA6kDYK2e4Jh9BaqJLHiONL00FCY63xyaxSd7DWp8NnM5MbJiFr5-Una2-bLkImcBjmiYtQ0hO8anYqd7zAHEiMFKudQ/s320/B58C1BCA-08D9-4703-895E-743C3BF45D8B.jpeg" width="320" /></a><div><br /></div><div>Chookyblue suggested a pattern for everyone to follow. I decided I wanted to do a red quilt so I went looking for all my reds and whites that would work together. The first thing I was surprised about was how little red fabric I had in my stash as I love red. This should not be surprising since I probably sew it up as soon as I buy it. </div><div><br /></div><div>I decided to strip piece it because I figured that would go a little bit faster and turned a block out pretty quickly. This comes from a friend of ours who’s baby quilt had come undone. I took the job on and have separated the top from the back. There is no batting and it was done in QAYG style. I’ll be replacing the missing squares and quilting it with its original back. The binding was dry rotted and I will have to completely replace it.<div><br /></div><div>My goal for this month is to complete the repair and bind it.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtmM6TpekMfSip8AUa1Rhv4F0Ap8Zs0z_STiuBrB7NuIpvhy9AuAEgQnICLAznuWaIxKQEBW6svDP58mj19KYPAbMY7QWAXvAOa9-azNQUBEk_aLolAgqvq0aM9YxHqW22TDf93m7EsfIix_V0QtwfeWd4y446fPAzIZ6eTU6oQRDI9wj3AQ/s4032/9472802D-DD36-4744-BD7B-0949A17C4C1A.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtmM6TpekMfSip8AUa1Rhv4F0Ap8Zs0z_STiuBrB7NuIpvhy9AuAEgQnICLAznuWaIxKQEBW6svDP58mj19KYPAbMY7QWAXvAOa9-azNQUBEk_aLolAgqvq0aM9YxHqW22TDf93m7EsfIix_V0QtwfeWd4y446fPAzIZ6eTU6oQRDI9wj3AQ/s320/9472802D-DD36-4744-BD7B-0949A17C4C1A.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOg3quHpeX900ryTj7Lr6jmO3KVMO7igGLpcOrTUL2L82T_0q3zoNhH-YJMdJPccOcVxoWyyiFvD_ASp5Mb6ReWnl-ZqpA_dy8Gt5DxNrTu8LseWJRnjwD8-Di2iXLCY6PGV8GAaJpRZSariouiXuZd7zoIS985pgtmDHD_CuUhFwCv2kvcA/s4032/BBEBBEF0-3A96-4AB9-9D2B-F1324C50BF5D.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOg3quHpeX900ryTj7Lr6jmO3KVMO7igGLpcOrTUL2L82T_0q3zoNhH-YJMdJPccOcVxoWyyiFvD_ASp5Mb6ReWnl-ZqpA_dy8Gt5DxNrTu8LseWJRnjwD8-Di2iXLCY6PGV8GAaJpRZSariouiXuZd7zoIS985pgtmDHD_CuUhFwCv2kvcA/s320/BBEBBEF0-3A96-4AB9-9D2B-F1324C50BF5D.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_l7HPPzZW6jUFY8T7HNyesT2mV4Jc-_UF1Puqu--Naj8De2sZJcABrtaj9XdeiVqZw-RV-3NMANlBFEm74mkaEuLU73KQcdf9702HFfU2znN1Cmm6coiVIoe5JSeekQmeQirLZADkagtxYALvLZcE1XlkIkauv_1nmBxAosp7Y9JObCtLEA/s4032/E06B104B-C600-4B73-A6C2-FC7AC509D4F7.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_l7HPPzZW6jUFY8T7HNyesT2mV4Jc-_UF1Puqu--Naj8De2sZJcABrtaj9XdeiVqZw-RV-3NMANlBFEm74mkaEuLU73KQcdf9702HFfU2znN1Cmm6coiVIoe5JSeekQmeQirLZADkagtxYALvLZcE1XlkIkauv_1nmBxAosp7Y9JObCtLEA/s320/E06B104B-C600-4B73-A6C2-FC7AC509D4F7.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>Thanks for all the well wishes for the recovery from my spill. I was advised to wear my boot for two weeks. Once I returned home I went straight to my podiatrist and he suggested I go three so I did. I was shocked at how stiff my ankle was but I seem to be walking normally again.</div><div><br /></div><div>Linking up with Patty at Elm Street Quilts for the <a href="https://www.elmstreetquilts.com/2022/06/one-monthly-goal-june-link-up.html" target="_blank">June One Monthly Goal linkup</a>.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><a href="http://www.mylivesignature.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://signatures.mylivesignature.com/54486/352/207F2BD16E2136F92DE8627CDB06BDB6.png" style="background: transparent; border: none;" /></a></div>swoozehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16072848652991759330noreply@blogger.com5
