3 Bound
I have 3 of the 5 charity quilts done, minus the label. One more quilted waiting to be bound. One basted. I will then add the labels, snip threads, give them a good going over to make sure there aren't any loose threads or other issues, wash them, pack them and ship them. I haven't been this productive quilty wise in a long time,

Design Pile Monday
I sewed and sewed all weekend. I started out with 2 unquilted tops for Quilts for Kids and finished last night with 4 quilted tops and 1 ready to be basted top. On the first four I still have to do a little work on the borders but I am quite proud of my accomplishment. Now to bind these babies!

You Never Know Where the Next Hug Will Come From
We took our pup to the vet to get his shots. When we got there we were greeted by Bart. The vet's 10 month old "house" cat. He is a cute yellow tabby and I just love him. Apparently Bart loves small dogs. When he saw dh holding Duke, the puppy, on his shoulder he proceeded to climb my dh and nestle in on his shoulder between dh's head and the puppy. I was laughing since my hubby isn't a cat fan. We took the cat off hubby and were taken back to be seen by the vet.
When our appointment was over we came out to pay etc and while we were waiting this is what ensued....

Monroe Stash and a Late Stash Report
I bought a yard of puppy paw prints in black and white. I need to check myself as I have bought several dog related black and white pieces. Need to not overbuy.
I bought quite a bit of this while over here. There are at least 15 yards not in the pic. I am working with it on current projects. See all that Halloween on the bolt?? GULP!
I am sewing as fast as I can!!

Sewing with Friends
I ordered kits for charity quilts from Downy to benefit Quilt for Kids. Amy and I got together yesterday and put two together. Nothing like spending time with friends and getting to sew.

I didn't show the last pinwheel quilt because it is a Christmas gift. It is waiting to be quilted. This is Judy Laquidara's QFAH Freeze Frame. I am loving it!
Head on over to Judy L's to see what everyone else has on their design wall.

Fabric out: 0 yards
Fabric in YTD: 182.125 yards

Week 44 Stash Report
Nothing purchased this week. I dropped dd's quilt off to be quilted this past week. Once I bind it I will count it toward the stash reduction.
Used this week: 0 yards
Used year to date: 72.33 yards
Added this week: 0 yards
Added year to date: 173.125 yards
Net used year to date: -100.8 yards

This latest quilt that I made will account for about 15 yards of fabric. If that is the case then I would need to make 7 more quilts by year end to break even. Don't think that will happen but I am going to make as many tops as I can and I will count those toward the stash out.

Two Color Quilts
My all time favorite quilt was a red and white Irish Chain that I made and gifted to my childhood friends daughter. I always thought I would make one for myself but have not to this point. I now have red and white fabric that I want to make my quilt with.
Here is my question. What are some of your favorite patterns that could be made using two colors? Share a link to a pic if you have one please.

Week 43, 2009 Stash Report and a Road Trip
Fabric In: 42.125 yards
Fabric Out: 0 yards
Fabric in YTD: 173.125 yards
Fabric out YTD: -100.8 yards
Gee.......
Since I have been working/living in Louisiana I have wanted to find different shops along my travel route and stop in. This past week I had extra time on m return from Dallas and stopped at three shops.
I found PC Embroidery and Cottage Quilts in Shreveport. I was looking for an asian print to use as a background. I did find some pretty black asian prints and an apple print. I bought that because it has the apple from my home town of Cortland on it. Found a cute pattern to use some of the asian prints I am now over buying.
The next shop is The Fabric Shop in downtown Ruston. I got sucked into their half price table and found a great print that will be a backing to some quilt in the future. Found some cute cupcake , rooster and windvane fabric as well. Clover has a new tool out to make folded fabric roses. I bought one and will have to google for more directions. The directions included are pretty good but I think I need to see a demo at least once.
Finally I went to Hannah's Quilts in Choudrant, LA. It was pretty easy to get there with my Garmin but a little nerve wracking since it was pouring rain and there was standing water in surprising places. I was glad when I got back to the main roads. I bought a few asian prints while I was there. Shocking isn't it? She had some kits that were marked down. Bloomers by Anima's quilting. I looked but didn't buy, until Saturday that is. I drove back to Hannah's and bought both kits. One is for Mom. I also picked up two more blenders for a cheetah print blooming ninepatch I plan to make. Here is a pic of the backroad to Hannah's.
I will have to total up my purchases and put my totals in here later. But I did buy. Oh boy did I buy. Not like Judy though!

Design Wall Monday
I have started adding borders to DD's quilt. The "bamboo" border is added along with the black on either side. I need to make a color strip across the top and bottom and will put black on either side of that as well. The bonsai fabric will be the last border. I just need to decide if I want it to be the same width as the sashing strips I used down the center of the quilt.
Go visit Judy and see what everyone else has on their design wall.

More Progress
I worked on DD's quilt again last night and have the side borders on. I used black on either side of the "bamboo" border. I prepped part of the borders for the top and bottom and will have to do some cutting to finish those. The finishing touch will be to add the bonsai fabric all the way around as the last border. I layed out pieces of these fabrics with the top as sort of a preview and it looks great. Of course the camera is home and I am not. I will try to post a pic tonight or tomorrow.
Tuesday is D day for getting this done.
