June OMG Goal Setting

As I was finishing up my May OMG I began thinking about what I would do for June.  I took a quilt from a coworker wth the intent to repair it.  I have most of the repairs complete so now I'll quilt and bind it.

Where you see the gold that is the inside of the quilt.

The binding was split.

The backing was a sheet and a blanket.

Fiber from the inside breaking down.

This was the "batting".  A sheet, a blanket and what appears to be an embroidered shirt.  I had hope to use this to repair the top but it was too fragile and tore way too easily.

Here is the repair thus far.  I have to replace the lavender piece on the side then layer and quilt it.  I'll square it up once it's quilted.

Now that is cool.

Oh, my, that's quite a job! I presume it was of some sentimental value to her. Your green looks very close to the same color.

I feel your pain! My son's dog ripped thru the binding and sashing of his graduation t-shirt quilt and he asked me if I could fix it. The backing was like tissue paper and the batting was just plain gross, so I took all the quilting out which took quite a while. I still had after 15 years, fabric I used for the sashing and the backing in my stash. I repaired the sashing, put the new/old stock backing on, re-quilted it, and managed to salvage the binding too. He was happy to get it back. I am sure your friend will be thrilled with the results of your repair work.

What interesting discoveries you have made in taking this quilt apart. It's a wonderful goal for June.
