Monroe Quilt Show

I went to my guild show a few weeks ago. I really thought this quilt was so unusual and wonderful. Notice the flip flops in the border match the swim suits. So adorable.

Did You Notice I Was Gone For A While?

I traveled home to central New York to see my parents and help them while they dealt with some health issues. Mom's are resolved for now. Dad continues to struggle. I will be returning soon to help out.

Here are some images I captured while there.

This is a picture of the ice cycles hanging from my parents house. The one in the center is over 6' long.

The next two shots are of ice that has formed on the rocky outcroppings along Rte 81 on the way to Syracuse.

Here is the bunny trail between my parents house and the neighbors. They visit the front yard to eat the seed the birds drop from the feeder.

Here is the birch tree. You can see they did get snow but nothing like the 30 plus inches that hit to the southern states.

Hope you enjoy my photography.

Pampered Pooch Fabric...Pampered Pooch Pattern

I love dogs and I love red, white and blue. When I saw this fabric I started buying pieces. I later found the pattern. I bought this fabric 2 years ago and recently decided I needed to get the top together so that I could get additional fabric if I needed.

You probably guessed that I did need to buy more fabric. I bought a yard of the background and 3 FQs of the red and blue. I was disappointed in one that I bought as it was pink, white and blue. It is set aside and will land in my 30s collection.

Future Quilt for DS

I plan to make Saratoga Lights designed by Judy Laquidara. These are the colors I plan. Navy where she has blue and green and brown where she has gold and red. Here is where I would like your feedback. I plan to use that peachy color for the backround. The picture is a little washed out. It is very peachy/orangy. What do you think?

DS loves orange. I was originally going to use the orange where the blue is but it was the wrong tone.

She's sewing again!

I bought the Pampered Pooch pattern and fabric a few years ago. I love red, white and blue and I love dogs so what a perfect combination for me. I can't quite remember why I bought the fabric piece meal like I did but I knew I was going to be very close if not short on my background fabric. I decided I needed to start cutting and sewing to find out what I was lacking.

Yesterday I cut the big pieces I needed first then worked my way down to the smallest pieces. It looks like I am a half yard short. I was going to order more but decided to wait and sew everything I have to make sure I do not lack others. I need to order soon before it is all gone!

See the shape cut on the table? I just started using this yesterday. It is really good and I can cut really fast but....I can make lot's of mistakes really fast as well. Luckily I cut some fabric incorrectly that I should not be short on. Live and learn! Great tool so far.

Best Friends Christmas Present

I had hoped to show DD's quilt first but don't have pictures yet. Here is the quilt I made for my best friend Judy. She and my daughter have related quilts now. See a close up of the quilting below done by my friend Tirane.

Rest in Peace Dear Brett

We lost my beloved brother in LOVE on New Year's Day. He had a heart attack and bypass surgery before Christmas. There was one complication after another. We honored his wishes and terminated life support when it became obvious he was not going to recover.

I felt closer to Brett than my own brother over the years. I will truly miss him.

3 Bound

I have 3 of the 5 charity quilts done, minus the label. One more quilted waiting to be bound. One basted. I will then add the labels, snip threads, give them a good going over to make sure there aren't any loose threads or other issues, wash them, pack them and ship them. I haven't been this productive quilty wise in a long time,

Design Pile Monday
I sewed and sewed all weekend. I started out with 2 unquilted tops for Quilts for Kids and finished last night with 4 quilted tops and 1 ready to be basted top. On the first four I still have to do a little work on the borders but I am quite proud of my accomplishment. Now to bind these babies!
Go checkout Judy L's blog to see what everyone else is doing for Design Wall Monday.

You Never Know Where the Next Hug Will Come From

We took our pup to the vet to get his shots. When we got there we were greeted by Bart. The vet's 10 month old "house" cat. He is a cute yellow tabby and I just love him. Apparently Bart loves small dogs. When he saw dh holding Duke, the puppy, on his shoulder he proceeded to climb my dh and nestle in on his shoulder between dh's head and the puppy. I was laughing since my hubby isn't a cat fan. We took the cat off hubby and were taken back to be seen by the vet.

When our appointment was over we came out to pay etc and while we were waiting this is what ensued....

Design Wall

Trying to catch up on some things. Here is what I have been working on. I am piecing the 4th border now and am almost done!

Monroe Stash and a Late Stash Report

I bought a yard of puppy paw prints in black and white. I need to check myself as I have bought several dog related black and white pieces. Need to not overbuy.

I am in the hole -110.8 yards

Here is a pic of my Monroe stash.

I bought quite a bit of this while over here. There are at least 15 yards not in the pic. I am working with it on current projects. See all that Halloween on the bolt?? GULP!

I am sewing as fast as I can!!
