Borders or no? If you think it needs borders tell me your ideas.

Try a blue border-either way I would us the ?black for binding. You might like it better with only binding but IMHO it does need some kind of "frame".

BEAUTIFUL!!! I say if it's big enough - no borders, just bind in either black or scrappy strips from the quilt top. If you need to add size I'd go with a narrow black inner border, piano keys using the colored fabrics in the top and then black binding.

Can't wait to see it finished, you're sending it to me for Christmas right? ;)

I love it. Great colors, design, prints. But I'd definitely recommend borders to finish it off.

One scenario would be a solid border to keep the eye focused on the center (my favorite). I'd go with lighter colors for border & binding vs black. Again, I'm leaning towards drawing the eye to the center (your spectacular blocks).

Another scenario would be a wide boarder with floating small blocks.

Another scenario would be a floating strip of a soft color, about the width of your strips for your blocks. Then do a border of small blocks, similar in scale & color of the small blocks in your quilt. Then one more outer border, about the same width as your wide strips or slightly wider. Sorta like a film strip border.

But what ever you decide, I'm sure it will look lovely.

i'm thinking a smallish black border then larger light..then bind it with the black. I LOVE it! I like your variation on judy's pattern and i love your colors!

No. Just a small binding. Maybe in the pink or purple?

AWESOME!! I love it, I would want a smallish black border with maybe a wider border with the leftovers, kind of a framing effect...I can send you my address if you need a home for it!!!
Thanks for sharing!!!

Swooze,
ove your color combo, it sparkles.
As for borders or no borders. What will this quilt be for? How big does it need to be? Then if it's for you and you want to play with fabric I "saw" something with my little eye as in the eye spy game.
IMHO I imagined this quilt finished with a larger very light neutral colored border and then for the binding cut strips of all your fabrics and sew them into a cloth large enough to make bias binding. That way when its sewn on the quilt alll of your colors will be running around the edge of the quilt doing a happy dance.

Along the same line but a little different, have a black piping edge just before the bias striped colored binding that are in your quilt. Both ideas are relatively easy but it would really put another "WOW" factor into it.

What ever you decide to do though this quilt is already stunning.

Nope. No borders. Like it just the way it is with a binding.

I love the quilt just like it is. I wouldn't put borders on it. It is lovely.

Yum! It's great! Doesn't "need" borders but if you would like it to be bigger, you could add a batik border (maybe use up all the scraps from your blocks and just piece it scrappy) and then bind it in black.

like it with no borders. Use your scraps to make the binding.

I don't think it needs borders - they might detract from its geometry.

I love it plain, but would use the leftover colored pieces for the binding. You already have my address, so will wait for the mailman to ring at least twice. You did a fabulous job, dear.

I love it! My kind of colors. I really like it as is. Bind it in black and enjoy!!

I'd put a black border (approximately 4") around the entire quilt, and then bind it with the pink, blue, etc. scraps you have left over from the blocks. I love scrappy bindings and I think one would work particularly well on this quilt =)

I love the way the block seems to float, just gorgeous. My vote is for no borders...no more guilding the lily, it is beautiful by itself.

I love it.... I was thinking of doing something similar with my left overs from the Freeze Frame quilt.

it's wonderful, just a small plain binding. Ahhhh!

i think it needs a wide solid black border crammed full of intricate floral applique. the sort that take about two years to complete by hand.

:)

your top came out lovely!
